Yes, we were there in Melbourne, in the Rod Laver Arena to see Rafa defeat Roger. A huge and closely fought battle - no disgrace to the defeated.

Entering the arena via the door nearest your seat bay, immediately there is a power created by the human proximity and expectation. Even before the arena substantially filled there is an 'energy' flowing.

I would have to agree with a commentator's remark that there are no bad seats in the Rod Laver from a view perspective - but those in the sun, especially on the eastern side would be quite uncomfortable in Melbourne's big heat.

As the sun declines into the west the light steadily climbs up the eastern seating banks, slowly cooking the patrons. On the days we were there temperatures just made it into the low 30s. We could see various handheld fans flicking faster and faster as the day wore on.
