The Face Reader
The Face Reader by Patrician McCarthy – Discover anyone’s personality, compatibility, talents and challenges through Chinese Face Reading
RRP $37.99, Published by Allen & Unwin New, business focused reading is scare at this time of the year, but a look at Mien Shiang or Face Reading – a 3000 year old Taoist practice, deals with a skill allowing you to understand yourself and others in personal and business life, says the author. An instructor in the practice to doctors and medical students, McCarthy has been hired by Fortune 500 companies to teach Mien Shiang to attain better working relationships. Mien Shiang takes into account the balance of Yin and Yang and ‘Qi’ energy, to go some way to answering the question, Who am I? and can also give similar insights into everyone in our lives, from choosing a true mate to finding the best boss or hiring a top employee. Around 230 pages, in three parts, looks at: - ‘The Elements of Mein Shiang’, ‘How We Read Faces’ and ‘Reading the Individual Features’. Word tables explain the dominant characteristics and traits our faces reflect based on five element personality types - wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Twenty multiple-choice questions help to determine dominant personal elements. People photos portray different physical traits and a 100 Age Area chart, places numbers 1-100 on areas of the face where the chronological evolution of our life experiences are recorded. This is fascinating. The Face Reader is a bit touchy feely, but will send you off to get a hand mirror to study the characteristics of your own face as you read, and make you peer closely at all those round you. .
